Sexual Assault 1 in 6 women and 1 in 33 men reported experiencing The Houston Area Women’s Center is the Rape Crisis Center for the City of Houston, and we serve everyone who calls our hotline. If you or someone you know has been sexually assaulted, please call our 24-Hour Sexual Assault Hotline at (713) 528-7273. One of our advocates is ready, willing and able to get you the help that you need. The Houston Area Women’s Center offers: Emergency Assistance – Survivors are encouraged to call our Sexual Assault Hotline for immediate assistance. Our advocates will connect survivors with resources and information to aid them in coping with the after effects of the assault or abuse. Hospital Accompaniment – Our dedicated advocates report directly to area hospitals to help survivors understand what has happened to them, what to expect physically and psychologically after the assault, advocate on their behalf with medical and law enforcement professionals and connect them to critical resources available to them within their communities. Counseling for Sexual Assault/Abuse Survivors - Individual and group counseling and support services for survivors of sexual violence, including some 12-week curriculum-based incest survivor groups. Community-based counseling and advocacy services provided for individuals with special needs. Services provided in English and Spanish, and all languages accommodated. Educational support groups for non-offending family and friends of survivors. Expert testimony in civil and criminal cases. Training and Education – Our Training and Education Department works with universities, military bases, medical professionals and law enforcement agencies to help these organizations set up specific policies, procedures and protocols for working with sexual assault.
