Intern at the Center

Thank you for your interest in the internship opportunities available at the Houston Area Women’s Center!

We offer several challenging, unpaid, for-credit-only internships throughout the academic year. Our interns learn valuable skills from some of the best counselors and social workers in the field of domestic and sexual violence! Our internships have been designed to provide selected individuals with hands-on experience to help them prepare to launch a career in social service.

We offer different intern opportunities that may satisfy the requirements of several degree programs, including law school (legal advocacy), BSW, MSW, Graduate level Counseling, etc.  We also have some opportunities for those that are in an undergraduate degree program.

Our selection process is highly competitive. If accepted, we do provide training (see our Training Schedule) with convenient, such as evenings and Saturdays to accommodate a busy school schedule.  *In some cases, hours in training can go towards required intern hours.
