Volunteer Application Process 

We recently embarked upon a new process to enhance our Volunteer Program! After surveying our volunteers and listening to their thoughts on how we can offer an even better Volunteer experience, we did some retooling and adjusting and designed a Volunteer Program that will help you learn more about our agency and help us learn more about you so we can match you with the types of assignments that interest you and best utilize your talents. 

1. Join Us! The first step in the becoming a member of our Volunteer Team is to attend one of our 2012 Volunteer Information Sessions. In addition to hearing more information about the Houston Area Women’s Center, you’ll have the chance to:
   • Learn about Volunteer Opportunities
   • Meet “veteran” Volunteers
   • Learn more about our Training
   • Meet agency staff
   • Interact with others who want to make a personal difference
2. Apply! Like what you heard at the Volunteer Information Session? Take the second step! Complete and submit a Volunteer Application, then fax completed forms to (713) 535-6363 or submit by mail (Houston Area Women's Center Attn: Volunteer Services, 1010 Waugh Drive, Houston, TX 77019).
3. Interview! Schedule an interview with the Volunteer Department/Department of Interest. Based on the information provided at the Volunteer Information Session, this interview is a one-on-one opportunity to help us understand your interests, skills and availability and will provide you with more detail related to your volunteer commitment. 
4. Get Trained! Once you are accepted into our Volunteer Program, our Training and Education Department will ensure that you are scheduled to attend one of our trainings. Times and Length of training depends upon the department in which you will be assigned. Please see the 2012 Training and Education Calendar for the upcoming schedule.
5. Graduate! Once you have completed the necessary training, you will start volunteering!
