On behalf of our staff and the thousands of adults and children we serve each year, thank you for investing in our mission!  We are a 501(c)(3) organization, and you may be entitled to a tax deduction for your donation.

Your gift allows the Women’s Center to provide comprehensive services to survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence, as well as the crucial community education needed to prevent that violence. The continuing financial support of donors like you allows the Women’s Center to grow in both size and spirit.

 Where does your money go? In 2008, donations allowed us to:

·        Answer 42,058 calls to our domestic violence and sexual assault crisis hotlines

·        Shelter 1,138 women and children from emergency situations

·        Counsel 1,419 child witnesses and victims of domestic violence and sexual assault

·        Counsel 5,485 adult survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault

Good Stewards of your Dollars

The Houston Area Women's Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, is proud to report that for every dollar we raise, approximately 86.1 cents funds services to clients and educational outreach, with the remaining 12 cents covering management and fundraising costs.

 The Houston Better Business Bureau recommends that charities spend at least 65 cents of expenses on services.  Our fiscal responsibility has led Charity Navigator, a nationally-recognized evaluator of philanthropic causes, to again bestow us with a three star rating. To view our report, visit Charity Navigator.                      

   Donor Privacy Policy

The Houston Area Women’s Center places the highest priority on protecting the privacy of our donors and holds all donor information in strict confidence. All employees and members of the Board of Trustees sign a confidentiality statement attesting to the confidentiality of the records. 

The Houston Area Women’s Center does not and will not sell, rent or trade a donor’s personal information to any other entity, nor send mailings on behalf of other organizations.
