    Back-to-School Project 2009

        We will be distributing new backpacks and school supplies to the children receiving services at the Houston Area Women’s Center. These are children who have experienced sexual abuse and exploitation, domestic violence and/or were witnesses to such crimes.  These children have been through some difficult times. We want to help them to feel good about themselves by sending them back to school with new backpacks and appropriate supplies, just like all the other kids.

    The Mom 2.0 Summit will be held February 19-21 at the Four Seasons in Houston . An “open conversation between moms and marketers”, the event brings together top mom bloggers, marketers, social media experts and industry leaders to connect and converse on the latest topics, trends and tactics in an unprecedented conversation around how to enhance marketing around your web-based business. More than 30 speakers from across the US and Canada will lead the discussion on topics including the economics of women-centered digital media, community building, product placement, disruptive innovations, site monetization, publishing, search engine optimization as well as social media, social responsibility, and social impact.

    Mom 2.0 Summit has partnered with local non-profit, Houston Area Women’s Center and is donating $25 of every new conference registration during the month of February to the annual
    "Race Against Violence" 5K Run.     Back to School Project 2008

    We wish to extend our gratitude to the following businesses and organizations that participated in the 2008 Back to School Project by collecting school supplies and backpacks for our youngest clients.     Astros Wives 19th Annual Black Ties and Baseball Caps Gala benefiting the Houston Area Women's Center

    The Houston Area Women's Center is forever grateful for the long standing support the Astros Wives Organization and its community partners have given our cause. This annual fundraising event contibutes a sizable sum to our agency's operating funds and helps ensure that survivors can access to our services free of charge.
