Back to School Project

Each year, the Houston Area Women's Center distributes new backpacks and school supplies to the children receiving our services. Children receiving the back packs have experienced sexual abuse and exploitation, domestic violence and/or were witnesses to such crimes. These children have been through some very difficult times. Oftentimes, families are facing financial struggles that prevent them from providing their children with the necessary school supplies to start the school year. The Houston Area Women's Center wants to help each child feel good about themselves by sending them back to school with new backpacks and appropriate supplies, just like all the other kids.  Parents will also receive a packet of useful community resources and information.

The community can get involved by picking up some extra supplies to donate, organizing a group donation drive, donating money or volunteering. You can view our supply list here
